Alan Gentillon

June 25, 1962 — July 3, 2017

Alan Gentillon, 55, of Firth passed away Monday July3, 2017 at home due to an unexpected heart issue.

Alan was born June 25, 1962 to Albert and Vera Cederberg Gentillon. He was the youngest child and only son of the four children in the family.

He grew up on the farm that his Grandfather started on the banks of the Snake River, and was always going up to the family ranch on Rawlins Creek. They enjoyed camping, day drives, hunting, and fishing. He went to school in Firth.

He graduated from Firth High School in 1980. He met Agnes Lyon through married friends, their first date was March 19, 1983 to the PRCA Finals Rodeo in Pocatello Idaho, and before long they were dating. Agnes graduated from Firth High School in 1984, and they married on July 20, 1985 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Firth, Idaho. They honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park and Cody, Wyoming. Their honeymoon started a tradition of going to Yellowstone multiple times every year, together and with nieces and nephews, and eventually with their daughter.

He attended Eastern Idaho Vo-tech for Agricultural mechanics, and there was very little he couldn’t fix on a motorized vehicle.

When his dad’s health declined, he took over the family farm and ran it for the rest of his life. His Dad died in 1991, and his father-in-law died in 1994.

In 1996, his daughter, Clarice, was born. His entire world revolved around her from that point forward. She had him wrapped around her finger before they left the delivery room. He was very quick to tell the latest on his pride and joy and was extremely proud of his little electrical engineer.

His hobbies included shooting, welding, making jewelry, taking pictures that he posted on Facebook almost daily, camping, fishing, joking around, and cooking. His life revolved around his family, friends, and nature. He enjoyed going to church every Sunday at St. John Lutheran church and visiting with some of his best friends he met there.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Gentillon, daughter, Clarice Gentillon, mother, Vera Gentillon, sisters, Judy (Daniel) Colvin of San Diego, California, Jane (Lindsay) Crawford of Kalispell, Montana, and Jill Gentillon of Idaho Falls Idaho, a niece, Kimm (Richard) Conklin of Salt Lake City, Utah, and nephew, Kristian (Elena) Colvin of San Diego, California.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Albert Gentillon, his grandparents, Isidore and Augusta Gentillon, and Bill and Ebba Cederberg.

The family would like to thank the Firth QRU, Firth Fire Department, and the Bingham County Sherriff’s office.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church (290 7th Street) in Idaho Falls. The family will meet with friends Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 W Oak) in Shelley. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
