Claudia Chambers Cook

Claudia Chambers Cook, 69, of Shelley passed away November 9, 2016 after an arduous battle with illness at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center. She was under the loving care of her family and Hands of Hope Hospice.

Claudia was born October 6, 1947 in Logan, Utah to Jay Thurston Chambers and Ruth Madorah McGee Chambers. She attended schools in Smithfield, Utah until 4th grade when they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1965. She then attended and graduated from Ricks College. From there, she went to BYU in Provo, Utah earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

On June 29, 1969 she married and was sealed for time and all eternity to the love of her life, Lynn Hunter Cook. They were blessed with 4 sons and 16 grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She taught school in Utah. Throughout her life, she worked various secretarial type jobs, and substitute taught in the Shelley School District. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but her favorite was serving as the ward librarian.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Chambers of Idaho Falls; Her three sisters, Marilyn (Ron) Larson of Ammon, Christine (Ed) Hemmer of Idaho Falls, and Peggy (Will) Garvin of Idaho Falls; three of her sons, Brian (Rayanne) Cook of Shelley, Benjamin (Nicole) Cook of Caldwell, Scott (Jenee) Cook of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and a daughter-in-law Rachel (Adrian) Cook of Firth. She was a grandma to 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Hunter Cook; her son Adrian Lynn Cook; and her father Jay Thurston Chambers.

A special thanks to those who cared for her in the last couple of years of her life: The Gables of Shelley, Safehaven of Pocatello, Turtle & Crane, and Hands of Hope Hospice. We appreciate all you did to make her life as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Shelley LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 184 N. Park, with 1st Counselor, Lance Zollinger, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 13th at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak, in Shelley and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday before services at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
