Obituary for Cleone C. Jolley

His journey began September 3, 1942 at the Eaton Maternity home in Shelley to Dwayne and Lila Callister Jolley. Growing up in Kimball as the 5th of ten children. Joyce (Wayne) Killpack, Merlyn (Marilyn), Darwyn (Deana), Boyd (Verla), Dion (Kathryn), Alan (Judy), Anna (Terry) Staples, Marla (Sterling) Nelson, Bryce (Laurie). Raised on a farm, milking by hand, bucking hay bales, tending livestock, all the usual work that goes with a farm before all the new machinery. He attended schools in Kimball, Basalt, Goshen and graduated from Firth High School. Then onto Ricks College (where he won the college swimming meet) then to ISU.

Married Myrna Bell October 17, 1962. They have 3 sons: Clark, Scott (Wendy), and Blaine (Tonya), 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren with 3 on the way.

He never lived out of Bingham County except for college. Worked his way through college by stacking lumber at Boise Cascade and shoveling potatoes at Croft and Hone. Along his journey he loved to play football, basketball, play cards, played drum in band, hunt and fish. He worked his way through college by saving and working (no handouts).

His first full time job was at Kraft foods in Blackfoot, followed by Anderson Lumber then back to ISU working the night shift at AEC and school during the day. He then worked for Merlyn at Jolley Building Supply in Shelley. He joined the Shelley Fire Department where he was Fire Chief for many years, and made lifelong friends. He then spent 12 years as a Bingham County Commissioner where he earned many awards and made many friends.

He spent years in the scouting program as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a true testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served twice as Elders Quorum President, High Councilman, Presto Ward Bishop, Primary teacher, and twice as Young Men’s President.

In 1971 he bought a 40 acre farm in Goshen for his hobby, where he raised wheat, hay and livestock.

He was a football player, basketball player, a Selway goer with his brothers and family, a furious Pinochle card player with Betty and Darlo on Friday nights. He read every Louis LaMour book. He loved attending the Temple.

All his plans for retirement never happened because shortly after he was diagnosed with ALS with which he suffered greatly,

Along his journey he was happy and at each stop he made long lasting friends. He was very kind and always did his best.

He passed away November 26, 2016 at the home he loved and built with his boys, father in law Clark Bell and a few friends.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all of his siblings. Preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Firth Stake Center, 823 N 675 E in Basalt. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak in Shelley and Wednesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
