Obituary for Sam F. Palumbo

Sam F. Palumbo passed away on 23 August 2018 in Shelley, Bingham, Idaho, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. He was born Sammie Frank Palumbo on 9 Dec 1942 in Abilene, Taylor, Texas to Jesse Pauline (nee Miller) and Frank Palumbo.

He had various occupations including working in the aluminum industry, and later sold insurance and securities. Sam was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for forty-eight years serving in mostly leadership positions.

He loved to hunt, fish, and ride horseback. He was a person who could "make a silk purse out of a sow's ears" meaning he could make something out of what he had to use around him; he was a survivalist. There were some that said they would "want to follow him if they had to cross the plains like the pioneers". He and Karen served a mission at The Cody Murals Visitors Center located in Cody, Wyoming and enjoyed giving tours and recounting the history of the Church there.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, and his children, Kim Running (Rich), Kyle Palumbo (Kim), Michelle Garcia (Larry), Katie Kozlowski (John), and Ben Palumbo (Jodi). His posterity includes seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
