In Loving Memory
Devin Barlow Cook
12/26/1990 - 4/14/2012

Devin Barlow Cook, 21, of Goshen, passed away April 14, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

Devin was born December 26, 1990, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Barlow Lewis Cook and Merralee Purcell Cook.  He was the youngest of eight children, the brother of seven older sisters.  Devin was a special person who touched the lives of all those who had the blessing and privilege of knowing him.

Devin grew up in Goshen and attended school in Firth, where he loved interacting with many caring classmates and adults.  While in high school, he also enjoyed working at the Development Workshop in Idaho Falls.

Devin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He was a member of the Goshen Ward, and he loved the many friends he associated with there.  Devin also enjoyed attending seminary in Firth during his high school years.

Devin loved music, riding on the motorcycle with Dad, watching sports, shooting the basketball, listening to people read aloud, and eating french fries.  Devin enjoyed people.  He had a delightful sense of humor, and his contagious smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Devin is survived by his parents of Goshen; sisters, Sharla Cook of Goshen; Melinda (Mark) Gneiting of Gardnerville, Nevada; Kimberlee Cook of Goshen; Melanie (Rigo) Vasquez of Goshen; Suzanne (Ryan) Morehead of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Krystal (David) Mundt of Shelley; Brittany Cook of Rexburg; grandmothers, Afton Cook of Goshen and Helen Purcell of Ammon; sixteen nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.   Devin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Darrell Cook and Mark Purcell.

Dear Cook Family, You all know of my great love and respect for Devin. His unique talents astounded me and kept me on my toes the 3 1/2 years I was his aide. I loved playing his basketball game every recess (he insisted that I take my turn!) Somehow I sensed the noble spirit buried within him. He has "endured well" his time on Earth and taught us all to be more loving, more accepting of others, and more responsinve to their needs. I was broken-hearted to hear of his passing, but I know that his spirit is now free--he must be so happy!

Dear Cook family, Devin was such an inspiration to those who knew him and were touch by his sweet spirit. While visiting our daughter and her family who live in your ward, we were happy to see him help with the sacrament services. We know he was one of our Heavenly Father's most choice spirits and has inherited the highest degree on earth and here after.

Devin was such a sweet spirit with an infectious smile. He could always get a smile from anyone he was around. He had that little twinkle in his that made you wonder what was going on inside that head. I enjoyed the time I spent with him at the school. I would love to attend the funeral but I am out of town this week. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Bart Cook Family, I wanted to let all of you know that I have been thinking and praying for your family. I for some reason on april 13, had a moment to read the scriptures and I open to the 3rd book of nephi and read about angel ministering to the little children and how they were encircled round about, and the angles could be seen decending and ascending in to heaven. I believe this gives a great insight on devins life. If only we could have beheld the angels in heaven who encirled Devin during his life on earth. After hearing of your loss I was sad for Devin, but then another soft impression came unto me which said . Suffer the little childern to come unto me and deny them not for thiers is the kingdom of heaven. I pray for the compforter to be with you at this time. May your heavenly father make your burdens feel light and your hearts cheerful. Love you all From Kim and Kayla Cook Family

I am a bit late but i would like to offer my sincere condolences to you. I remember the two of us being pregnant at the same time and then you raced ahead and delivered early! Devin was truly a special boy and the Lord truly sent him to a good family. I have such good memories of your whole family. You are a great example to all those around you. I am sure that your faith will bouy you up. I have certainly found that our knowledge of eternity certainly makes death a bit sweeter. It is wonderful to know that Devin is in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. May you be blessed with many wonderful memories and peace in each day forward. Love, Carol Broadbent
