In 1959 she moved with her husband and five children to Shelley, Idaho.  She worked at the Shelley Rest Home caring for the aged.  In a short time she became the owner of the facility and continued in that field of work until she retired in 1986.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in various capacities.  She and her husband served two missions together; one to the Frankfurt, Germany temple and one to the Bern, Switzerland temple.

Survivors include her children, Albert T. (Kristine) Schellenberg of Highland, Utah; Louise E. (Shane) Pettingill of Shelley, Idaho; Martin L. (Karen) Schellenberg of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Denise R. Schellenberg of Shelley, Idaho; and Lily S. (Wil) Kolditz of Cathlamet, Washington; 30 grandchildren and 126 great grandchildren.

Losing a loved one can be devastating. Which is why I wanted to express my deepest sympathy and concern for you and also share with you the wonderful hope for our dead loved ones. As you grieve Elisabeth’s loss, please reflect on the hope in question, which comes from Jehovah God. By means of the Bible, He allows us to understand how He’ll eliminate death for good one day and bring our dead loved one back to life. This is evident in Scriptures like (Isaiah 25: 8), (John 5: 28), (1 Corinthians 15:26), (Revelation 21:3 and 4), which can comfort you in this time of sorrow. God’s promises are guaranteed because He cannot lie. Moreover John 11 verses 11-14, 39, 43, and 44 attests that Jesus, who God appoints to bring the dead back to life, can do it since he did it when he resurrected Lazarus and several others here on earth. As you await Elisabeth’s resurrection, please heed Jesus’ counsel in John 17 verse 3 and take steps to gain accurate knowledge of God and Jesus by carefully studying the Bible with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In John 5 verse 39, Jesus explains that such study is imperative if one wishes to have everlasting life one day here on earth, which will be become a paradise where you can be re-united with Elisabeth again in a world free of violence, war, sickness, old age etc… (Ps 37: 9-11 and 29), (Psalms 46: 8 and 9), (Isaiah 33:24), (Job: 33:25).

Dear Shane and Louise and family, When we first moved to Shelley, Grandma Schellenberg was one of the first to welcome us. She invited us over for dinner and even seemed to enjoy our four rowdy kids. I remember the delightful argument she and Albert got into about the dessert she was making. Albert had decided it wasn't cooking fast enough so had turned the oven up - the result was not what Elizabeth had had in mind - but it tasted good to us anyway. I remember her delicious Christmas cookies. She was such a genuine person - impossible not to love. She was a hard worker, she made me feel lazy at times. She had an awesome testimony and I will always be thankful for her good example. Yes, Elizabeth was "salt of the earth," and it's been my blessing to know her and her good family!
