In Loving Memory
Joseph Felix Hoff
10/9/1914 - 3/3/2010

Joseph Felix Hoff, 95, beloved daddy, grandpa and uncle, went to be with his Lord on March 4, 2010 in Cody, Wyoming.  He will be greatly missed.

Felix was born October 9, 1914, in Firth, ID to Peter and Anna Hoff. His father Peter came from Norway and mother Anna of Swedish decent.  He was met in heaven by his parents, his five older siblings: Alvin Hoff, Elmer Hoff, Rudolph Hoff, Ruth Rogers, and Gladys Oliver; his wife, Sarah and his wife, Bessie; and son-in-law Larry Fisher.

Felix married Sarah Mecham in 1936 to whom Phyllis was born.  Sarah passed away in 1938.  He later married Bessie Bosley, to whom Melanie and Colleen were born.  Bessie and Felix were married 53 years before Bessie passed away in 1991.

He is survived by his three daughters: Phyllis (Ray) Sammons, Tucson, AZ; Melanie Fisher, Meridian, ID; and Colleen Peters (Dave Swedberg), Clark, WY.  Grandchildren: Steve (Suzy) Sammons, Grand Rapids, MI; Stacy (Debbie) Sammons, Tucson, AZ; Amy Benkovich, Meridian, ID; Matthew Woolford, Boise, ID; Beth (John) Hanley, Lander, WY; Bret Fisher, Oregon; Chanda Lofquist, Fergus Falls, MN; Barbi (Randy) Moore, Cody, WY; and Amanda Peters, Fergus Falls, MN.  He is also survived by 16 great grand-children and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved him.

Felix spent his life working in the professions that he loved.  He was a carpenter and builder in Idaho and a rancher in Wyoming, and later owned a lumber business in Blackfoot.  He retired to his ranch in Wyoming in 1992 where he raised a garden & llamas, hunted, fished, and watched the river go by.  The Ranch was the gathering place for his family and friends.

He had a beautiful tenor voice and was an excellent yodeler.  He was singing and yodeling just hours before his passing.  Heaven has a new voice added to its choir.  One wonders how the yodel will fit in!

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday March 11, 2010 at the Bethel Lutheran Church (413 North Main) in Firth with Pastor John Stevens officiating.   The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.

Felix was my father's favorite uncle. I have fond memories of going to the farm in s. idaho, when his brother Alvin, my grandpa passed on. Would love to hear more of your side of the Hoff family sometime. I lost my dad in '74, and a hole is left in your heart. God bless all of you at this time. Please look me up on facebook sometime. Love from the Seattle Hoffs-Jenny

I was so heart broken to hear the news. I know he is in heaven with his Bessie. I have often talked about my familes memories about Feliz and Bessie. All those Chickens, the leaves we raked, the houses we would help clean as kids. Gee Barbie I still remember the sleep overs. We loved playing with the new puppies, Ruffles and the Cat. Please know that our Love and Prayers are with you and your family. Lots of Love!!! Cindy and Longoria Family

The last time I saw Uncle Felix was at Mom's funeral (Verda Rappleye Hoff) at Bethel Lutheran Church in Firth. He was a wonderful and fun Uncle...and the last of that generation. I wish I had had the opportunity to visit his ranch in Cody. I had heard many fun stories about him and his ranch, but never got to visit there. He was loved by his brother, my Dad, Alvin which was evident by Dad's stories. Tess

Phyllis, Melanie, Colleen & families, Just want you to know how much that laugh will be missed. My folks thought the world of your parents. "Bessie & Felix" are involved in some of my very first memories way back when. What a time they had as "youngsters" before WW II.... Can't you just hear them laughing, whooopin' it up and playing practical jokes as they gather together again....... Our love to you, Connie and all the Linns Wilson, WY
