Afton Anderson Hult

August 9, 1921 — October 23, 2007

Afton Anderson Hult, 86, passed away on October 23, 2007, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.  

She was born on August 9, 1921, in Shelley, Idaho to Frances William Anderson and Rozett Lemmon Anderson, the twelfth of thirteen children. She attended the Taysom School grades one through eight and graduated from Shelley High School. Her family farmed on the Utah Idaho Sugar Company, Hays Project, west of Shelley.  

She married her high school sweetheart, Mervin Lavar Hult, on August 28, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.   Afton was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and person and was loved by all.  

She enjoyed dancing, bowling, camping, and fishing trips to Island Park. Gardening and canning were a special hobby and she made delicious jam out of the raspberries from her garden. She loved crocheting and quilt making and her children and grandchildren cherish the quilts and afghans she made.  

She worked at the R.T. French Company in Shelley, Idaho for many years and retired from there. She attended many conventions for the American Legion Auxiliary, and loved traveling to new places.  

Survivors include three children Deanna (Keith) Rady of Hamer, Idaho, LaVar (Brenda) Hult of Logan, Utah, and Bryan (Sandy) Hult of Idaho Falls; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one sister, Dorthy Deppie.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, Mervin, her husband of 63 years, Jolene Smith, her daughter, and two grandsons, Matt Rady, and Jeffery Eckersley.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 27, 2007 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak in Shelley. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
