Alta Monson Redford

October 30, 1913 — November 26, 2009

Alta Ruby Monson Redford returned to her Father in Heaven and her loved ones on 26 November 2009 in Citrus Heights, CA.

Alta was born 30 October 1913, the sixth child of Julius Niels and Julie Yorgensen Monson.  She grew up on the Monson farm in Goshen, Idaho.  Her grandfather, Niels Monson, was one of the early settlers of the Goshen community.

She was a very industrious person and began working in Idaho Falls about 1930.  It was there that she met and married her husband, LoVar George Redford, on 26 June 1936.  In 1942 they moved to Seattle, Washington where they lived for the next 63 years.  She worked for the Societe/Brachs Candy company for 29 years. 

Alta and Var were sealed in the Oakland, CA. Temple in 1982.  For 15 years thereafter, they worked in the Seattle Temple.

Alta is survived by a large family. Her daughters and sons-in-law, Renaye and Craig Clifton of Orangevale, CA. and Karlene and Hal Edwards of Diamond Bar, CA. Grandchildren, Dianne (Clifton) and Jjon Mohr of Wellington, Utah, Craig Clifton Jr. and Eric Clifton of Citrus Heights, CA.  Scott Edwards of Orlando, FL, Adam and Misha Edwards of Draper, UT., Kevin and Jacque Edwards of Kerns, UT., Bruce and Christy Edwards of  Ann Arbor, MI., Paul Edwards of Diamond Bar, CA. , and Larisa Edwards of Sandy, UT.  Great grandchildren include Branndon and Leanne Mohr, Tammara Mohr, Savannah (Mohr) and Dean Herger, Coltton Mohr, Mikell Mohr, Emily Edwards, Arden Edwards, Raylee Edwards and Madison Edwards.  One great great grandchild, Pamela June Herger. Three sisters; Ethyle (Monson) Shumate of Phoenix, AZ., Phyllis (Monson) Conlan of Seattle, WA., and Beverly (Monson) and Reed Richens of Ammon, ID. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Lovina (Monson) Moon, Ve (Monson) Halgren, Darlene (Monson) Bruer  and four brothers; Virgil, Orlynn, Glenn and Lyle Monson.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
