Althera Louise Crofts

Althera Louise Lyon Crofts, 100, of Firth, passed away May 31, 2010 at the Gables Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.

She was born July 18, 1909 in Firth Idaho to John Joseph Lyon and Elena Johanna Helena Inglestrom. She grew up in Firth were she attended school and graduated from Firth High School. She married Philip John “Jack” Crofts August 13, 1929, she and her husband raised eight children.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She was a ward organist for 25 years and had never taken a piano or organ lesson. She enjoyed doing all types of needle work, quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, reading, genealogy and spending time with her children and family. She loved to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her children Dean (Jean) Crofts of Florence, MT, Doreen (Gordon) Christensen of Ogden, UT, Diane (Vearle) Frandsen of Goshen, Delane (Tonya) Crofts of Firth, Douglas (Gale) Crofts of Roy, UT and Denton (Patsy) Crofts of Meridian. One sister; Anna Stringham of Blackfoot, 32 Grandchildren and 82 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children, 4 grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 2, 2010 at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) with Bishop David Schiess, conducting. The family will receive friends Wednesday at 12:00 noon till 1:45 P.M. before the services at the church.  Interment will be in the Basalt Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
