Annie Mae Olsen

February 20, 1911 — August 8, 2006

Annie Mae Beasley Bumgarner Olsen, 95, died August 8, 2006 at the Idaho Falls Health & Rehab Center in Idaho Falls.

She was born February 20, 1911 at Shelley, Bingham County, Idaho, the daughter of Milton L. and Mary Belle Byington Beasley.    She grew up on a farm South of Shelley.  The family moved to a home in Shelley where they had a big garden and flower patch.  It was here her love of flowers blossomed.  Between school and chores, Annie did not have much time to take care of flowers.  She was well known for her beautiful roses.   Annie was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of nine.

Annie also loved to crochet.  She began to crochet small doilies first and after learning to read the directions and she crocheted many other items.  She has always crocheted and at age 88 was still busy at it. She has made small and large doilies and beautiful Afghans.

She married Lawrence Howard (Dick) Bumgarner, September 28, 1929 in Shelley. This marriage was blessed with five children:  Mary Jean, Pallie J., Jacqueline G., JoAnn H., and Lawrence C.  He preceded her in death on February 4, 1940.  Annie’s family provided love and assistance during this difficult time.  Family outings in Island Park are treasured memories.

Annie married Frank Olsen on November 20, 1945 at Dillon, Montana.  They had two boys:  Ray and Ralph.  Frank farmed between Basalt and Goshen.   After Larry’s high school graduation the family  moved to the farm.  Frank died on January 21, 1964.

These were some of the happiest time of her life.  Many Sundays were spent fishing on Rawlins Creek in the Blackfoot River Mountains.  Annie’s mother came to the farm to stay until her death on February 14, 1965.    Annie, like her Parents, loved all her family and enjoyed every visit.  Her door was always open and had a warm welcome sign for anyone to come and visit or stay a few days.  It seemed like someone was always staying with her

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, two Husbands, a son, daughter and two grandsons, five brothers and one sister.

Survived by daughters Mary Jean (Bob) Isaacs, Pallie Crider, and Jackie Schnuckel.  Sons: Larry (Connie) Bumgarner, Ray (Earlene) Olsen, and Ralph (Nita) Olsen, 27 Grandchildren, 60 Great grandchildren, and 42 Great Great Grandchildren.  A brother, Melvin Beasley, and a sister, Beulah Olsen. Four sisters in law: Edith Olsen, Barbara Olsen, Guila Olsen, Neta Beasley and Grace Orr.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday August 12, 2006 at the Goshen LDS Chapel (792 north 1090 East) with Bishop Bill Brown conducting.  The family will receive friends Friday evening 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
