Arlene Elizabeth Armstrong

March 29, 1913 — November 2, 2008

Our loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Arlene Elizabeth Johnson Armstrong peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, November 2, 2008 in Provo, Utah at the age of 95. 

Arlene was born on March 29, 1913 in Goshen, Idaho to Hyrum Parley and Elizabeth Chapman Johnson.   

She married her sweetheart, Ellis Armstrong, on April 4, 1934 in Logan, Utah.  She is the mother of nine children.  She was devoted to her family and served them valiantly throughout her life.  She worked diligently alongside her husband on the family farm. 

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing, and baseball.  She especially loved her grandchildren and they adored her.  She had a great memory and could name each of her numerous posterity by name.   

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arlene held many callings and served faithfully all of her life.  She was a friend to all.  

She is survived by her children, William Armstrong; Jean Hunter; Maurene (George) Nelson; Deanna (Owen) Lunt; Lois (Herman) Frandsen; Mark Armstrong; and a daughter-in-law, Vera Armstrong (Ladd).  She is also survived by two brothers, Bill (Verna) Johnson; Dean (Jackie) Johnson; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.  Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; and three sons, Malia, Reed, and Ladd Armstrong.  

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.  Family and friends may call on Thursday evening, November 6, 2008 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. or on Friday morning from 8:30-9:15 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services. 

There will also be a viewing Friday November 7th from 3:00 till 3:45 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley, with interment to follow in the Firth Cemetery.
