Barbara Bowcutt

Barbara LaRae Simons Bowcutt, 62, died May 5, 2006 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born February 6, 1944 in Sunnydale, Utah.

Barbara was the third born of eight children to Ray Simons and Irma Simons Whitmill.

The family lived in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Firth, Idaho and Shelley, Idaho.

Barbara moved to Shelley, Idaho where she continued to help care for her siblings.

Barbara attended schools in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, in Firth and Shelley Idaho.

In Shelley Barbara met the love of her life, Gordon Bowcutt and married him on October 28, 1960. Together they built a life and had 2 children. Mary Byington and Terry (Annalisa) Bowcutt, both of Shelley.

Barbara lost her beloved husband in 1973 in a car accident. She was a very strong woman who loved her children deeply, making many sacrifices over the years for them.

Barbara was a member of the LDS church and was sealed to Gordon in the Idaho Falls LDS temple in 1974. She never remarried.

Barbara’s loved spending time with her family, camping, walking, hiking, boating, and the great outdoors in general.

Barbara is survived by her 2 children, seven grandchildren, 3 sisters, Lynette (Robert) Russell of Shelley, Alice Harding of Aberdeen, Idaho, Elayne (Tom) Jackson Hasibar also of Aberdeen, Idaho. Barbara has many nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, Elray and Kenny Simons, 2 sisters, Donna Lu Simons, and Pat Parmer.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 9th at the Shelley Fifth Ward Chapel (513 South Park Ave.) with Bishop Jack Grover, conducting. The family will visit with friends on Monday May 8th from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday morning May 9th from 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Interment will be held at Shelley Hillcrest.
