Bernice A. Matheson

Bernice A. Matheson, 90, of Firth passed away October 24, 2006 at her home.  

She was born December 13, 1915 in Cedar City, Utah to William Franklin and Ellen Urie Murie Hunter Armstrong. She was raised in Enoch, Utah where she attended a one room school and then graduated fro Branch Normal School (Snow College).

On February 20, 1936 she married Francis Webster Matheson in St. George, Utah.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She held various leadership and teaching positions in YWMA, Relief Society, Sunday School, & Primary and she was a visiting teacher for 70 years.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery and made wonderful candy, she loved her family more than anything and wanted to make them all happy.

She is survived by her children Evelyn (Ralph-deceased) Hill of Firth, Leland (Linda) Matheson of Price, UT, Dorian (Maureen) Matheson of Roberts, Richard (Kathy) Matheson of Shelley, Kendell (Beverly) Matheson of Salt Lake City, UT, Diane (Steve) Nelson of Twin Falls, 32 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters, three brothers, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 28, 2006 at the Firth Stake Center (823 North 675 East) in Basalt.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. till 12:45 P.M. at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
