Betty Elaine Ricker

November 19, 1933 — April 21, 2011

Betty Elaine Ricker, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

Betty was born on November 19, 1933 in Shelley, Idaho to George and Hila Boyce Hansen. She was raised and attended school in Shelley, Idaho graduating in 1952. Four days later on May 16, 1952 she married her high school sweetheart Lee Ricker in Idaho Falls, Id. Betty was a homemaker and mother. Over the years she also worked as a waitress, book keeper and seamstress.

Betty enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Island Park, Idaho where she enjoyed the great outdoors and visits by friends and family especially her grandchildren. Betty and Lee enjoyed wintering in Southern California and traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and quick wit. Betty Boop was a nickname she was given and referred to by many for numerous years.

Betty is survived by her husband, Lee; three daughters and one son, Nancy (Phil) Mecham of Firth, Idaho; Sandra (Cal) Batterton of Soda Springs, Idaho; Todd “Bubba” Ricker of Shelley, Idaho; and Jeana (Brad) Crofts of Shelley, Idaho; sister, Connie Cook of Las Vegas, Nevada; and brother, Elder Craig (Cheryl) Cutler currently serving an LDS mission in Canada; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leon Hansen, Eugene Hansen, Lewis Hansen, Robert Hansen and infant twins Mary and Marion Hansen.

The long list of meaningful friendships she had is too long to print but you know who you are and we thank you!

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday April 25, 2011 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
