Betty Idona Wadsworth

April 24, 1923 — July 20, 2012

Our dear Mother, Grandmother, and Friend, passed away peacefully at her home, where she loved to be, on Friday, July 20.  She was 89 years young. Betty Idona Wadsworth was born April 24

th

1923, to Fonda Idona Pierce and Roy Elliot, of Princeville, Oregon.

She grew up mainly around the Twin Falls area. Her mother died when she was 10 years old leaving her and her younger sister Laura to live with their grandparents until they passed away when Mom was in high school. She then went to live with an older couple where she worked for her room and board. Through various jobs, she was able to earn her way through Business College where she graduated with honors.

While she attending Business College she met and married her chosen companion, Clifford Wadsworth in the Salt Lake Temple on February 3, 1941

.

She is survived by her children, Larry of Salt Lake City; Utah, Al, of Highland, Utah; Roger of Idyllwild, California; Lorna Hanson of Idaho Falls; Sherrie LaForce of Mesa, Arizona, Stephen of Shelley. Dad and a grandson preceded her in death.

She was very active in the LDS faith. She served in many and varied capacities in the church including Relief Society and Mutual President, but the one she enjoyed so much was being Primary Chorister because of her love of music and her love of children.

Her and Dad served 12 consecutive years as a missionary couple in various missions including the Idaho Falls Visitor Center and the Genealogical Library. Even up to the time of her passing, her love for missionary work was demonstrated by sharing her message with telemarketers from her living room rocking chair and has even made a friend for life with a young man in India. She also loved doing her own genealogy.

Her strong positive attitude and great determination got her through many life’s challenges.

She had a magazine business in her home for 60 years. Her love of people and life made this kind business very satisfying for her since she enjoyed visiting and making new friends.

Mom was an extremely hard worker and taught her children the value of work.  Because of her love for children her dream was to have a daycare where she could love the little ones.  She so loved the sunshine and washed her windows just about as frequent as she washed her dishes. She in turn was our family’s ray of sunshine in our lives.  She was the most wonderful mother who gave herself totally for us children and loved us unconditionally.

A great tribute that her grandchildren gave her was to be at her bedside during her last days, to show their great love and respect for the grandmother that loved them so much. We will all truly miss this wonderful woman!

Graveside Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 28, 2012 at the Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday July 23, 2012 from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
