C. Dale Jolley

Dale Jolley, 79, of Shelley, passed away November 26, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of complications due to a stroke.

Dale was born December 7, 1928 in Burley Idaho to Willard and Anna Thompson Jolley. He grew up on the family farm in Burley learning the value of hard work and family unity.

Dale served an LDS mission to the Southern States North Carolina Mission. On October 30, 1951 he married Lilace Gooch in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. In January 1952, they moved to Idaho Falls and Dale began his40 year career at the INL. Two years later, they moved to Shelley and have called that home.

With his wife, he served two missions; the 1st to Nauvoo, Ill. and the 2nd at the Idaho Falls Visitors Center. After his wife's death, Dale continued to serve at the Idaho Falls temple and remained there until recently.

Dale enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, wood carving, chipping arrowheads, gardening, camping, fishing and scouting; serving as scoutmaster for most of his adult life. He loved taking the boys to scout camp, pow wows and other outings. He earned his eagle badge and was awarded the Silver Beaver. Dale has encouraged many scouts to not only achieve the rank of eagle but to implement the high standards of a scout into their lives.

Dale loved and was loved by many. If you knew Dale, you had a best friend. His testimony and unconditional friendship has touched hundreds of lives.

He is survived by his nine children, Bryan (Melissa) Jolley of Bakersfield Calif., Janice Chambers of West Jordan, Utah, Ivan (Lori) Jolley of Shelley, Merrell (Kris) Jolley of Pleasant Grove, Utah, LaRee (Rodger)Ricks of Redmond, Wash., Mashell (Tom) Anderson of Idaho Falls, Thayne (Tomoko) Jolley of San Antonio, Texas, Wendell (Sharlene) Jolley of Idaho Falls, Carol (Perry) Livermont of Menan; a sister, Donna Wilkens and two brothers, Wayne Jolley and Gary Jolley. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his wife of 52 years.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 South Milton) in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. and Saturday 12:30 till 1:40 P.M. both at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
