Carol Mae Taylor

November 27, 1925 — July 2, 2013

Carol Mae Dial Taylor died July 2, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

She was born Nov. 27, 1925 in Shelley, Idaho to Aaron Burriss Dial and Rozena Hansen Dial. She was the oldest of their nine children.

She attended schools

at Blackfoot, Tyhee and Pocatello until her junior year and graduated from Shelley High School in 1944.

She went to Salt Lake City, Utah to work at the Genealogical Society of Utah, then returned to Shelley where she worked at Mallory’s Department Store.

She married John R. “Jack” Taylor in 1948 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They raised their family on a farm in the Jameston area, where she grew a large garden.

She worked at the Shelley Public Library and then at King’s Department Store.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions. She and her husband served in the Idaho Falls Temple together. After his death in 1999, she served a mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.

In recent years, she happily took her friends who no longer drove a car

on various errands and to church and she took her turn driving as they went to the temple each week.

She enjoyed doing family history, embroidery, crochet and reading. She also kept a daily journal for many years.

She is survived by seven children: John Jr. of New Hampshire, Peggy Russell of Shelley, Ted (Guylene) of Idaho Falls, Rozalee (Dennis) Baker of Rigby, Spencer (Carrie) in Pocatello, Judy (Alan “Quigly”) of Maine and Glen (Melynie) of Rigby; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, Elmo (Nila) Dial of Rigby, Don (Carolee) Dial of Clearfield, UT, Joy (Tom) Olson of St. George, UT, Ray (Sarah) Dial of Alabama, Doris (Ron) Dye of Island Park, and Connie (Vern) Bastian of Malad.
