Carrie Veniece Hess

Carrie Veniece Hess, 94, of Shelley passed away December 27, 2011 at her home under Hospice Care.

She was born December 11, 1917 in Goshen, Idaho to Oliver H. and Astrid Johansson Nielson.

On August 10, 1942 she married Raymond G. Hess in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Veniece worked 13 years for the Shelley School District before retiring.  After retiring Veniece and Ray wintered in Yuma, Arizona for 18 years.

Mom’s favorite past time was playing the piano.  She started playing in her dads dance band.  She also played with her sister, Marilyn at the Shelley Senior Citizens Center.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings.

She is survived by her children, Linda Rae (Brent) Hampton of Pocatello; Gary (Tami) Hess of St. George, Utah; Robert (BJ) Hess of Shelley; Annette (Dale) Cowley of Las Vegas, Nevada; siblings, Carlos Nielson of Shelley; Naomi Larsen of Idaho Falls; Dennis Nielson of South Ogden, Utah; Marilyn Hansen of Shelley; Marvin Nielson of St. George, Utah; Melva Johnson of Idaho Falls; and Nancy Simmons of Idaho Falls; 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bart, sister, Edla Snell, brothers, Lavern & Carl, two grandsons, and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Shelley Tenth Ward Chapel (1555 North 700 East) in Woodville.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.  Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
