Charles Raymond Collins, 80, of Shelley passed away January 9, 2007 at his home under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
He was born September 22, 1926 at Wellsville, Kansas to Harley C. and Mabel E. Wright Collins. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1945.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Noble from February 1945 to August of 1946.
On October 12, 1947 he married Maurine Farnsworth at Ucon, Idaho.
He was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenters Local 808 and the Elks Lodge. He built Christ the King Catholic Church, Madison High School, Bank of Idaho Bldg., and the David O. McKay Library at BYU-Idaho.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idaho Falls.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer and spent the winters in Blythe, California.
He is survived by his wife, Maurine Collins of Shelley, daughter, Linda Ann (Kent) Martin of Port Angeles, WA, son, Gary Raymond (Norlene) Collins of Shelley, two brothers, LeRoy (Marianna) Collins of Idaho Falls and Tom (Pam) Collins of Logan, UT, four sisters, Olive Dean Wright, Eileen Keller, Beth (Joe) Elliot all of Idaho Falls, and Doris (Lew) Jean Flint of Mosier, OR, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 13th at Nalder Funeral Home,110 West Oak, in Shelley with Bishop Steve France, conducting. The family will receive friends Saturday 12:30 till 1:40 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery. Military Rites will be preformed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Idaho Youth Ranch, 478 Shoup Ave., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402.
