Clifford Kent Olive

Clifford Kent Olive, 80, of Idaho Falls passed away March 23, 2016 at The Good Samaritan Society in Idaho Falls.

Cliff was born February 19, 1936 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Thomas Elmer Olive and Madge Whitmore Olive. He was the third child of eight. He grew up in Napa, California and graduated from Napa high school where he was a record holding athlete. After High School he served a mission in South America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

After his mission he married Odetta Jacobsen in 1958. They were blessed with five children. Cliff loved spending time with his family, they were the most important thing in his life. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, rock hunting and entertaining everyone with his silly songs and traveling games.

Cliff was the owner and proprietor of several businesses over the course of his life. His businesses included OWEN Distributors carpet and supplies, Wholesale furniture, Discount furniture, The Sandwich Tree, Earrings plus and Arrow wholesale.

He loved to cut and polish rocks, and to make jewelry to sell and to give away to friends and family. He was a silversmith and his family time often included rock hunting around Idaho, California and Arizona, combined of course with a fishing trip everywhere he went.

Cliff loved to travel, often taking family and friends with him. He was a great tour guide, telling his passengers a little about the history of all the places they went.

Cliff is survived by his 5 children, Beckie (Wade) Quinn, Corolee (Brian) Bird, Cammie (Ed) Hunter, Brett (Jeniece) Olive and Ty (Alicia) Olive. 19 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandson and 4 siblings.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 3 siblings; LaRae Jones, Betty Francom, Glen Olive and his grandson Brad Hunter.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak Street), in Shelley. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning 10:00 till 10:45 A.M. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan for their loving care during his last days. They also want to express their love and appreciation for all of you who took time to visit Cliff and spend time with him throughout his life. He will be missed by many.
