Cristel Handly

Cristel Handly, 70, of Phoenix passed away on 14 March 2013. She died peacefully at her home. Her trial with ovarian cancer lasted over three years.

Cristel grew up in Shelley, Idaho, where she was born 9 September 1942. She raised her family in Phoenix. After her children were grown she "snow birded" summers in a home built near where she grew up. She loved being near her siblings.

Cristel was known for her can-do attitude, the principles of work she taught to her children, and a hospitable generosity.

Cristel was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving others in different capacities through her life. Her last assignment was as a full-time couple missionary to the West Indies, where she and Bob loved serving in Guyana and Trinidad.

Cristel is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert J Handly, and by their six children Paul (Kyoko), Ruth Ann (James Schouten), Karen (Ray Quain), Mark (Sheri), Carol (Bruce Carlson), and Rachel (Nate Kimbler). Her parents Arvel and Dorothy Fielding preceded her in death, as did her sister Helen (Boyd Ashcraft). She is survived by siblings Bryce (Mary), Alan (Nancy), Gladys (Bob Atwood), Linden (Ann), and Keith (Karma). She loved Bob's family. She has 22 Grandchildren, is an Aunt to 67 and a Great Aunt to many more.

A viewing will be held Thursday 27 March from 7 to 8  pm at the LDS Chapel at 4748 W Orangewood, Glendale, AZ. Services will be at 10 am Friday March 22.

The interment will be at 2pm Thursday, March 28

at the Taylor cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
