Darlene Perkins Goff

September 17, 1937 — July 12, 2012

Darlene Ellsworth Kelly Goff, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on July 12, 2012 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Darlene was born on September 17, 1937 in Shoshone, Idaho to Hattie Geneva Horton and Lorin Ellsworth. She was the youngest of six children with five older brothers. Growing up on a farm as a child she had plenty of chores and work to do, including changing water and feeding the cows, pigs and chickens.  She loved horses riding or feeding them, it didn’t matter. She had a way with animals. She spent a lot of time while in school with her best friend, a horse named Dusty. She graduated with honors from Firth High School.

Darlene was a hard worker and was determined to provide for her family. She was a book keeper working for several businesses throughout her lifetime including the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls. She also worked as a journeyman electrician.

She married Dewey Gordon Kelly, July 16, 1955 and started a family. Together they had four children, they were later divorced. She was a devoted mother. Darlene worked hard to raise her kids the best way she could. She did everything with her kids: fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, swimming and sports. Her kids took her everywhere.

Darlene married and was sealed to Melvin Jay Perkins, December 20, 1986 and they enjoyed the simple farm life in Firth, with 2 acres, one cow and a vegetable garden. He passed away May 16, 1993 and once again, she was alone. In February of 1994 she moved to Moore, where she met and married Ernest L. Goff, on December 29, 1995. They later moved back to Firth, where she has resided since.

Darlene was also a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She had a beautiful smile and used it often, even when things were a little discouraging or she didn’t feel good. Darlene has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all her life. She helped others and gave of herself whenever the need was there. She loved flowers and vegetable gardens and was frugal with whatever she had. She enjoyed making things with her hands.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bud Ellsworth (Mary), Robert Gene Ellsworth (June), Donald Clyde Ellsworth (Billie), and Gayle Horton Ellsworth (who died in WWII); her son, Clark Patrick Kelly, and husband, Melvin J. Perkins. She is survived by her husband, Ernest L. Goff of Firth; her brother, William Ray Ellsworth (Beverly) Firth; her children, Marcus D. Kelly (Pamela), Darlington, Mishelle Kelly, Idaho Falls, and Kristopher C Kelly (Angela), Pocatello, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Firth-Kimball LDS church (744 N 600 E) in Firth. There will be a viewing from 9:30 am to 10:40 am prior to the funeral for friends and family. Bishop Michael Cornia will officiate. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
