Darlene Rust

Darlene Smith Rust, 83, of Shelley passed away peacefully on August 29, 2016.

Darlene was born July 4, 1933 in Sugar City, Idaho to Hilbert and Letha E. Roberts Smith.

She attended and graduated from Sugar Salem High School.

After high school Darlene went back east to work as a nanny.

Darlene was employed as a cook for various employers around the Firth/Shelley area for many years.

Her greatest joy was to meet the people she served.

She made many friends throughout the years.

Darlene was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.

She served in the primary presidency, young womens, Librarian and many more.

Darlene married Lowell Clive Rust on January 12, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity.

She is survived by four sons and a daughter; Garth (Wendy) Rust of West Jordan, Utah, Richard Rust of Mesa, Arizona, Cordell (Olga) Rust of Kaysville, Utah, Dwight Rust of Newcastle, Wyoming, Cathie (Jordan) Morris of Shelley, Idaho, one brother, Lyle Smith of Rexburg, Idaho, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Glenn, and siblings, Doyle, Delmo, Yvonne, Vonna, and Linda.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak in Shelley. The family will meet with friends Friday morning from 9:30 till 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at both Teton Post-Acute Care and Rehabilitation Center and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for the love and care that they have shown Darlene over the last 14 months.
