David Paul Arsenault

David Paul Arsenault , 61, passed away  on December 16, 2014 in Shelley, Idaho.

He was born on August 19, 1953 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Cynthia Elin Erickson and Joseph Raymond Arsenault, David grew up in Bellow Falls, Vermont. At 15 he became a volunteer firefighter and joined the US Air Force in 1972 upon graduation. In the military he also served as a firefighter and later became a fulltime firefighter for the Montana Air National Guard stationed in Great Falls, Montana. Dave had the opportunity to become a flour miller for Montana Flour and Grain in Fort Benton, Montana. The mill specialized in organic whole wheat flour and David was responsible for designing the mill stone patterns.

He moved his family to Shelley, Idaho in 1995 when he became a Sales Engineer for Huntsman,Inc. out of Twin Falls, Idaho. His sales territory was defined as I-15 from the Canadian Border to Four Corners.  When he became semi-retired due to illness, he drove bus for Shelley School District.  It was his favorite job and often said, “How can you be sad when first-graders greet you every day?”

A convert member to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he married Margaret (Peggy) Brooks on August 2, 1974 in Great Falls, Montana and they raised five children. Dave served in the Boys Scout of America for 30 years and considered his time on campouts and with first-year scouts as some of his best memories.  He loved the outdoors, driving school bus, and genealogy work.

David is survived by his father, Ray Arsenault, New Hampshire; his sister, Sonja Funke, Roberts, Montana, his brothers, Brian Arsenault, Chris Arsenault, and Steve Arsenault; his wife, Peggy; his children,  Bill Arsenault, Nampa; Scott Arsenault, Evanston, Wyoming;  Karen Ames, Vernal, Utah; Jennifer Butler, Lander, Wyoming; and Timothy Arsenault, Shelley; and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Elin Arsenault and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 E Locust).  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning from 9:00 till 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93.
