Del Clyde Hobbs

October 6, 1943 — August 17, 2014

Delwynn Clyde Hobbs was born on October 6, 1943.  He passed away on August 17, 2014 in Goshen, Idaho.

He was raised in Dayton, Idaho and graduated from West Side High school in 1961. Del served an LDS Mission to Toronto, Canada.  He met his wife, Christine at Utah State University and they were married on June 6, 1966 in the Logan, Utah Temple.  He graduated from Utah State University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.  He earned his Master degree from the University of Utah.

He served in many capacities in the church including Bishop, High Councilmen, Stake President, and most recently he served as a temple sealer in the Idaho Falls Temple. With all of his callings, he especially loved working with the youth.

He worked for the State of Idaho as a certified social worker in Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Idaho Falls where he served as the regional director for the Department of Health and Welfare.  He formed many close friendships through the years with his colleagues.

Del loved family, hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting, rodeo, boxing and all people. He was always a champion of the underdog.  He was known for his sense of humor, laughter, and a good “true story”.  One of his favorite sayings was, “Does a bucking horse fart?”

He is survived by his wife, Chris of Goshen, Idaho, his children, Stacey (Reid) Olsen of Dayton, Idaho, “Sid the Kid” (David) Morse of Wapello, Idaho, Justin Del of Salt Lake City, Utah.  He has 7 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.  His brothers Dee (Linda) of Mesa AZ, Don (Nansi) Mesa AZ, Edwin (Kathy) of Brigham City UT, & Ross (Cheryl) of Rockford ID.  He was proceeded in death by his mom and dad, Thelma & Eldon Hobbs.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 N 1090 E). The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home

, 110 W. Oak, in Shelley

and Thursday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
