November 10, 1935 — January 26, 2010

Delbert Lewis Likes, 74, of Firth, passed away January 26, 2010 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.

He was born November 10, 1935 in Idaho Falls, the seventh of eight children to Russell Richard and Dora Marie Foster Likes.  He attended schools in Sterling and Idaho Falls.  He served in the United States Army.

He married Evelyn Montague on September 3, 1959 in Midvale, Utah.  They had four sons.

He was a hard worker and had several occupations during his life.  He was a “Jack of all trades” which included warehouse worker, ditch rider for Idaho Irrigation for several years, construction worker, cement mason on the Dwarshak Dam in Orofino and the Boundary Dam in Northern Idaho, truck driver, and worked for Idaho Supreme Potatoes.  These occupations took him and his family to many areas to live.  The last move was to Firth in 1972 where he resided until his death.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  The position he enjoyed most was Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator for the Boy Scout program in the Firth Ward.

He enjoyed being in the hills with his family and enjoying nature.  He especially enjoyed having dogs around him and had several all his time in Firth.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Firth; children, Rick (Melanie) of Basalt; Mark (Darcie) of Firth; and Bruce of Firth and Salt Lake; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Rusty and Tom of Idaho Falls; and three sisters, Jeanette Portela of Idaho Falls; Bertha Krasselt of Kooshia; and Florence Young of Roy, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeff, one grandson, Keegan, and two sisters, Viola and Violet.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family thanks everyone for all the kind acts of service provided to them.  Thanks go to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot for their excellent care of Delbert in his last days.
