Don L. Cox

Don L. Cox, 91, of Shelley died December 19, 2007 at his daughter’s home in Shelley. He was born April 6, 1916 in Shelley, Idaho to Harrison and Nellie Miller Cox. 

He lived his entire life in Jameston.  He was the first in his family of parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to complete high school.  He also attended Idaho State University.

Don married Blanche Christensen on April 21, 1937 in Shelley.  Their marriage was solemnized in 1949 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He was a farmer and rancher by trade and was very proud of the improvements he made on a sandy, wind-blown acreage.  He also had hill property and for several years shared range land in Wolverine with his brothers.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many ward and stake positions.  He also served on several board of directors including; ASC, Flood Control Commission, Farmers Home Administration during the Teton Dam disaster, and the Farm Bureau.

Don was an avid sportsman, both as a participant and spectator.  He considered everyone he met his friend.  He was a true gentleman, always treating his family and friends with love and respect.  He was very proud of such a good heritage and great posterity who will miss his love and support.

He is survived by his children; Denise (Dale) Huntsman of Shelley, Barry (Linda) Cox of Shelley, Colleen Waite of Shelley, and Debbie (Gary) Porter of Centerville, Utah, two brothers, Robert (Doris) Cox of Rigby and Bill Cox of Idaho Falls, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 22, 2007 at the Taylor-Jameston Ward Chapel (1101 East 1250 North) with Brother Roger Cook conducting.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the Church.  Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
