Donna Carrie Saville

December 19, 1923 — January 25, 2015

Donna Carrie Saville passed on to eternal perfection on January 25, 2015 at the age of 91. She was born on her mother’s birthday December 19, 1923, a birthday she also shared with her younger brother Ross Kunz. The family enjoyed gathering to celebrate their birthdays even after they had children and grandchildren. This shared birth date is carried on by her great-grandson Rennick who was born on Donna’s

80

th

birthday.

The daughter of Alma Kunz and Mary Grover Kunz, Donna was raised in the Teton Valley where her mother was a school teacher and her father had several occupations. Mom remembers delivering milk with him in the winter on a sleigh and then working for him when he owned a hunting and fishing lodge on the Teton River. She was the second child in a family of six and had one sister and four brothers.

She left the valley as a young woman and worked as a clerk typist during WWII and later as a telephone operator. On November 11, 1949 she married Don Saville in Pocatello, Idaho and on June 14, 1968 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple and their seven children were sealed to them for time and all eternity. After her second daughter was born she quit work to be a full time mother and wife. Together Don and Donna raised five daughters and two sons. She was a caring and devoted mother and her daughters and daughters-in-law fondly remember how she came to their homes each time a grandchild was born to help them when they returned from the hospital. She was there to offer help and guidance after each of her 27 grandchildren.

Her favorite pastime was reading a good book and she passed that trait on to many of her children. She enjoyed the out-of-doors and spent many years tending camp while Don fished. She loved to gather huckleberries in the late summer ‘up in the valley’ as she would call it. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities in Relief Society and Primary.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Donna Kay who died at the age of 18, her parents, and her brothers Bruce, Ross and Lyle Kunz. She leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, her sister Jan Robson and brother Laron Kunz, two sons Steven (Annette) and Jerry (Kathy) Saville, four daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Ure, Karen Saville, Candace (Raleigh) Moore and Kim Long, 27 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 North 1090 East). The family will visit with friends Saturday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
