Doris Barsanti

Doris Skelton Barsanti, 85, of Shelley peacefully left this world in the early morning hours of March 16, 2014 at her home.

Doris was born September 1, 1928 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Morris Raymond and Lavina Ella Burch Skelton.

She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and worked on the class reunions for over 60 years.

She also attended Montana State University in Missoula, Montana for one year.

She married the love of her life, Earl Barsanti on June 8, 1951 in Butte, Montana.

She has lived in Shelley for the past 58 years.

Thirteen of those years she and Earl owned and ran the S Bar Cattle Company at the north end of town.

She was actively involved and a member of the Shelley United Methodist Church and served on the board for many years.

She loved singing in the choir, playing bridge and bingo and being with groups of people.

She founded the Quick Response Unit in Shelley in 1973 and served as a trustee at the Idaho Falls Eagles Lodge and loved spending time there with her many friends.

She worked and retired from the RT French Company and held other book keeping jobs in her life.

Her proudest moment was being elected citizen of the year in 1979 for the city of Shelley and was Grand Marshall in the yearly Spud Day Parade.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana (Bill) Blakely of Idaho Falls, Pat (George) Cremeans of Oakridge, TN, step daughter, Bernadine (Ron) Garbarino of Butte, MT, 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Also her extended family Sally Hartert, Rich and Julie Ludholtz, Kathy Coats, Kenton Jensen, and Gary Walters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step son, Earl Barsanti Jr. brother, Morris Skelton, and one grandson.

The family wishes to send heartfelt gratitude to Hands of Hope Hospice and all close friends that helped with her final care.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at United Methodist Church, 190 South Holmes in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 and Saturday from 11:00 till 12:00 both at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
