Doyle Vernon Dredge

January 21, 1928 — June 12, 2008

Doyle Vernon Dredge, 80, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his home in Shelley.  

He was born January 21, 1928, in Goshen, Idaho to Richard Henry & Esther Marilla Heward Dredge. He graduated from Shelley High School and lived in Shelley most of his life.  

On May 12, 1948, he married Barbara Holland in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home and raised their five children in Shelley. He worked at the INL for 32 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and officiated in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for 20 years. Doyle also held many different positions in the church, including serving as a member of the bishopric, and his favorite, scoutmaster. He and Barbara served two LDS missions to New Zealand and Australia. Doyle was a hard worker, loved to learn, and was always optimistic. He will be missed by all who knew him.  

Survivors include his children Eileen (Patrick) Casey, Salt Lake City, Utah; Holland (Gale) Dredge, Douglas (Ginny) Dredge, Shirley (Ellwood) Arnell, and Debbie (Bryan) Borsella, from Shelley; brothers Jay Dredge, Las Vegas, Nevada; Talbot Dredge, St. Helens, Oregon; and Roy Dredge, Washington, Utah; 24 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents, six brothers, two sisters, one son, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.  

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Monday, June 16th at the Shelley South Stake Center, 675 South Milton, in Shelley. The family will visit with friends from 6:00pm – 7:30pm Sunday and from 11:30am – 12:40 am Monday both at the Shelley South Stake Center. The burial will be at Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
