Edward L. Johnson

Edward L. Johnson, 81 of Shelley passed away November 25, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Gilbert, Arizona.

Ed was born June 27, 1934 in Gary, Indiana to Ed and Alice Johnson. He attended Portage High School up to his sophomore year. He then moved to Wrenshall, Minnesota where he graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1953.

Ed moved back to Portage, Indiana when he was 20 and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp. He served for 3 years and was honorably discharged.

Ed married Delores Baranek on August 29, 1959. He worked for local 395 Ironworkers for about 37 years. He and his wife, moved to Shelley, Idaho in 1985 where he started his own business for Modern Steel.

Ed loved his church, Bethel Lutheran in Firth, Idaho where he served on the council and helped with different projects. He was a lifetime member at the Skyline Gun Club in Idaho Falls where he enjoyed trapshooting and shooting the breeze with the guys. He also loved to hunt birds and big game.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores of 56 years, his children Michael (Kay) Johnson, Pam (Michael) Mayhew and Susan (Ken) West, his six grandchildren and one great grandson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Alice, his two brothers, Bill and Jim, and his sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Bethel Lutheran Church (413 North Main St) in Firth with Pastor Paul Malek officiating. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 4:00 till 6:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. 

Military rites will be performed by David B. Bleak Post 93 assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
