Edwin Reed Elkington

July 9, 1937 — January 24, 2016

Edwin Reed Elkington, 78, of Goshen passed away January 24, 2016 in Idaho Falls.

He was born July 9, 1937 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Reed and Cora Judy Elkington.

He graduated from Bonneville High School and attended Ricks College and BYU.

On December 15, 1959 he married Betty Smith in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Ed operated his own dairy farm for 43 years in Goshen.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He served a full time mission in the Southern States.

He also served as Elders Quorum President, Seventies President, High Priest Group Leader, Young Men President, Counselor in Bishopric, Idaho Falls Temple Worker, Sunday School Teacher, Home Teacher, and on the High Council.

Ed served on Select Sires Board of Directors, Bingham County 4-H Dairy Board, and was a DHIA member.

He liked to watch westerns on TV, reading, hunting, and fishing.

He enjoyed calls and visits from family and friends and especially being with family.

Ed is survived by his children, Cynthia (Mark) Steffler of Presto, Ben (Ann) Elkington of Firth, Janet Elkington of Erda, Utah, Daina (David) Barker of Goshen, Cheri (Richard) Henderson of Vernal, Utah, siblings, Glenna (Bryle) Walker, Elaine (Dennis) Hall, Keith (Cheryl) Elkington all of Ammon, Brent (Sandy) Elkington of Bone, 23 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Tex Elkington and a sister, Karen (Derrill) Sparks.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 N 1090 E) Shelley. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at (Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak) Shelley and Thursday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the church.  Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
