Elda Faith Crooks

February 19, 1923 — April 10, 2008

Elda Faith Crooks, 85, of Firth, passed away April 10, 2008 at her home of natural causes.  She was under the care of Blackfoot Home Health and Hospice.

She was born February 19, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to James Henry Rhoades and Mildred Sophia Hammond.  She attended schools in Michigan and graduated from Godwin High School.

She married James David Hull in 1942 and they had one daughter, Joy Darlene Hull. 

While living in Michigan, she was taught the gospel by Elder Elmo D. Crooks and converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She loved the gospel from the time she heard it and was faithful to the end.

In 1954 she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and worked at Zion’s Bank as a teller.  After 23 years and while working at Zion’s Bank she was reunited with Elmo Crooks and this time they became more than just friends.  They were married February 15, 1975 in the Idaho Falls Temple and sealed on August 19, 1977.  She served in her church as Relief Society President, Sunday School Teacher, in the Stake Relief Society and many other callings.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, camping, working in the garden and being in the out doors.

She is survived by her husband, Elmo D. Crooks of Firth; daughter, Joy of Goldendale, WA; step children: Laurel (Terrell) Hill and Debra (Dan) Hawkes both of Blackfoot; Toni Peterson of Highland, Utah; Scott (Georgiana) Crooks of Idaho Falls; David (Debbie) Crooks of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Crooks of Boise; 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Henry Rhoades and William Thurston Rhoades, a stepson, Bard Elmo Crooks and a great granddaughter, Ella Page Hawkes.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 15, 2008 at the Kimball Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) in Firth with Bishop Boyd Peterson conducting. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Tuesday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
