Fred C. Carpenter

March 15, 1933 — September 21, 2007

Fred C. Carpenter, 74, of Firth passed away September 21, 2007 in Idaho Falls. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his many kind deeds.         

He was born March 15, 1933 in Shelley, Idaho to G. Loren & Elizabeth H. Carpenter.  When 3 years old, the family moved to Osgood where he resided until 1978 when he moved to Atomic City for 3 years, then to Firth where he presently resided – He farmed most of his life, then employed by Idaho Supreme until his retirement. His schooling was in Osgood then Idaho Falls.       

He married Irene Eddington on August 21, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had 2 children and she passed away November 12, 1955 just 12 days after the birth of the 2nd child.  He served in the Army from November 9, 1954 until March, 1956 when he was discharged to care for his children.    He married Verna Hodgson November 16, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple.     

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served many years in Scouting programs, from Cub Scouting , Scouting, District Chairman and was awarded the Silver  Beaver Award .  After moving to Firth he continued with the Scouting program and also with the Young Men’s Program. He was currently a counselor in the High Priests Quorum.      

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and many friends –  Fishing, hunting, and 4-wheeling.      

He is survivors include his wife, Verna; children, Dave (Debbie) Carpenter of Rigby, Bill Taylor, son-in-law of Nampa, Brent Carpenter (Barbara) and Ron Carpenter (Jolene) of  Rexburg:  Kevin (Marilee) of Firth: Carla (Danny) Elliott of Shelley:, Cory (Erin) Carpenter of Taylor, Texas.;  Brothers Wayne & Douglas of Ogden, Utah; Verl of Idaho Falls; Rayola McBride of Sparks, Nevada; and Wendell of Reno, Nevada; 26 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cathy, one sister and two brothers.        

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Firth Ward (744 North 600 East) with Bishop Todd Williams officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
