Gabriel Martinez Coronado

Gabriel Martinez Coronado, 87, of Shelley passed away February 16, 2011 at his home.

He was born March 24, 1923 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Antonio and Alejandra Martinez Coronado.

He married Maria Conception Tapia on May 14, 1944 in Real De Catorse, Mexico.  In 1949 they came to America.  They moved to Shelley in 1958 where he was a long time employee of R.T. French and Pillsbury Companies.  He was the father of 12 children.

He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Idaho Falls.

Gabriel loved taking his wife of over 50 years dancing.  For years he grew one of Shelley’s most beautiful and famous gardens.

He is survived by his children: Frank (Jenise) Coronado of Mesa, AZ; Mary Coronado-Ortiz of Idaho Falls; Lupe (Ernie) Garza of Shelley; Tony Coronado of Shelley; Ron (Zoe) Coronado of White Rock, NM; Benny (Pam) Coronado of Meridian; Benjamin (Annie) Coronado of Boise; Linda Coronado of Yuba City, CA; Lucinda Coronado-Griffin of Idaho Falls; and Adrien Coronado of Idaho Falls; 37 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two children, Lila Maria and Gabriel.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday February 21, 2011 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on 9

and Lee Streets in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.  A Rosary service will start at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
