Garl Quen Miller

January 9, 1932 — September 22, 2008

Garl Quen Miller, 76, of Rigby passed away September 22, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a sudden cardiac arrest.            

Garl and his twin brother Garth were born January 9, 1932 in Idaho Falls to Samuel and Goldie Miller.  Garl grew up in the Teton valley graduating from Teton High School in 1950.  Garl developed his lifetime love of horses and hard work ethic at a very early age. 

He married Pauline Wood in 1951.  They later divorced.  Garl was a service engineer for Joy Manufacturing and later worked and retired from Bingham County Road and Bridge.  Garl married Carol Berry in 1974.  They made their homes in Ammon, Shelley, and most recently in Rigby.            

Garl was an avid hunter, inventor, sports fan, antique collector, leather worker, and renowned storyteller.  He was “larger than life” to all of his family and will be deeply missed.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.            

He is survived by his wife Carol Miller of Rigby; children, Kerry (Lana) Miller of Lewisville, Garlan (Jill) Miller of Vancouver, Washington; Milan (Julie) Miller of Ucon; Rick (Jill) Miller of Rigby; DeeAnn (Reed) Stoddard of Rexburg; Vickie (Jade) Grover of Ammon; Brad Berry of Carlin, Nevada; Todd (Karen) Berry of Roseberg, Oregon; Kristi (Andy) Holley of Idaho Falls; 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, siblings; Jack Miller, Nelda Gust, Garth Miller, Nola Solt, Aloa Stewart, and “the boys” Butch & Benji.            

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and two grandsons, Christofer Garl Sanchez and McKay Stoddard.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday September 26, 2008 at the Woodville Ward Chapel (1555 North 700 East) in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Friday 1:00 till 1:45 P.M. before the services at the church.  Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
