Gary Lee Fletcher

Gary Lee Fletcher, 80, of Shelley passed away June 13, 2012 due to a lingering illness at Bingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born September 23, 1931 in Idaho Falls to William Preston and Jannie Eaton Fletcher.  He was raised in Vernal, Utah until age seven when the family moved to the Shelley area.  He graduated from Shelley High School.

On August 16, 1950 he married Mildred Arlene Herndon.  They were later sealed on July 5, 1972 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

They resided in Shelley and were blessed with four children, Ronda, Brenda, Craig, and Doug.  Gary farmed with his grandfather Lewis Eaton until he took a job at R.T. French’s.  At the same time he also worked nights at Grants Texaco.  He then went to work for AEC at "the site”, starting as a guard and moving onto a Metallurgical Technician.  After many years he retired at the age of 64.  After his retirement he loved to spend time at the cabin he built at Pine Haven in Island Park.

Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He served as Elders Quorum President, Young Men President, Sunday School President and as an officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Millie and his children, Brenda (Carl) Anderson of Heyburn; Ronda (Gary) Covington and Craig (Lois) Fletcher both of Challis; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Doug, grandson, Shad Anderson, and great grandson, Dakota Anderson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 E. Locust).  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Monday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
