Gayle Giles

March 8, 1942 — February 10, 2016

Kady Gayle Cunningham Giles passed away on February 10, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Gayle was born on March 8, 1942, in Price, Utah, to Alma Que Cunningham and Mary Faucette Cunningham.  Shortly after, the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado.  As a youth, Gayle enjoyed baton twirling, tennis, drill team, and all athletics.  Gayle graduated from Grand Junction High School.  After High School, she attended Brigham Young University where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.

While in college, she met Verl Lynn Giles.  They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 22, 1964.  They lived in multiple places before settling in Goshen, Idaho, in 1972, where they raised their family.

Gayle taught elementary school for 35 years, 28 of those years at A.W. Johnson Elementary, in Firth, Idaho.  Gayle cherished the students, friends, and coworkers that she had while working there, she retired in 2005.  Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Gayle loved traveling, playing cards, laughing, and was known for her quick wit and keen sense of humor.  She always had many friends and a very soft spot for those that were less fortunate.  Gayle loved going to movies with friends and family and always requested movie tickets as Christmas presents.  She loved supporting her children and grandchildren as they participated in their sporting events and other activities. Gayle travelled often and was extremely proud that she achieved her childhood goal of seeing all 50 states and Europe.

Gayle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She served in multiple callings including: Gospel Doctrine Teacher, visiting teacher, Relief Society Presidency, Girls Camp Director, and Young Women’s President. Gayle had a very strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ which gave her strength to endure many tribulations including her husband’s lifelong battle with MS.

Gayle is survived by her children; Mark (Angie) Giles, of Ucon, Idaho, Angela (Eric) Anderson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Steven Giles of Ammon, Idaho, Ryan (Leslie) Giles, of Shelley, Idaho, and Brady Giles of Firth, Idaho, a brother, Gerald (Judy) Cunningham of Vista, California and a sister, Christine (Randy) Chamberlain of South Jordan, Utah, and 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
