Genevieve Weatherston

May 27, 1918 — November 30, 2011

Genevieve Nalder Weatherston, 93, of Goshen, died November 30, 2011 at the Willows Assisted Living Center in Blackfoot.

She was born May 27, 1918 in Layton, Utah to Walter Alvin Nalder and Pearl Irene Singleton Nalder.  She attended school in Layton and graduated from Davis High School at the age of 16.  It was during the great depression but still she was able to attend college in Logan graduating in 1939.

Following graduation she moved to Plano, Idaho, to live with her sister and teach at Edmonds High School.  It was while she was living there that she met Clyde Weatherston.  They were married February 14, 1942 in Coeur’d Alene, Idaho.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple February 13, 1946.  After Clyde was discharged from the service they moved to Goshen where they have lived since.

Genevieve was a teacher for many years in the Firth School district, teaching speech and English.  She was also the school librarian for many years retiring in 1981.  A few months later she took over the care of her son Neil who had been injured in a car accident and cared for him for many years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many stake and ward callings. She loved to garden and grew fruits, vegetables and flowers which she freely shared with others.

In 2009 she went to live with her daughter Ann until October 2011 when she needed more help and moved into the Willows.

She is survived by her children: Ann (Skip) Walker of Goshen; Carol (Ted) Christensen of Blackfoot; Lindy (Joe) Dominick of Ontario, Oregon; Bruce (Lynnell) Weatherston of Roosevelt, Utah; and Neil (Peggy) Weatherston of Shelley; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, son David, her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Presto Ward Chapel (792 N 1090 E).  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday from 9:30 till 10:40 p.m. prior to the services at the church.  Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
