George Harold Granberg

June 18, 1926 — December 4, 2006

George Harold Granberg, 80, of Firth passed away December 4, 2006 at his home.

He was born June 18, 1926 at Firth, Idaho to Carl Harold and Lily Carlson Granberg.  He graduated from Shelley High School in 1944 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy.  He served aboard the carrier USS Gilbert Island in the Western Pacific during WWII.

On February 9, 1948 he married Iola Keller in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Idaho Falls.

He owned and operated the G/G (Grunt and Groan) Ranch west of Firth where he farmed and raised Hereford Cattle.

He was a member of St. Johns #52 Masonic Lodge in Shelley for over 50 years.

George loved having company, visiting, and playing cards.

He is survived by two sisters, Doris Forbes of Paradise, California and Dorothy Sorensen of Meridian, Idaho, one brother-in-law, Richard Keller, and three sisters-in-law, Janice Walstrom, Virginia Steinke, and Joan Eckersell, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and loving neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Graveside services will be 12:30 P.M. Friday December 8, 2006 at the Riverview Cemetery in Firth.  The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 till 12:15 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.  Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia St, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
