Ilene Christensen Kearney, 85, of Shelley, passed away August 15, 2008, at

Bingham

Memorial

Hospital

in Blackfoot of causes incident to age.

She was born November 2, 1922 in

Shelley

,

Idaho

to Holger and Laura Killian Christensen.

She lived most of her life in Shelley, growing up on the family farm.

She attended Shelley schools and graduated from

Shelley

High School

in 1941.

After high school she attended Henegers

Business

College

in

Salt Lake City

,

Utah

.

During WWII Ilene left school to work for the war department, receiving an award for distinguished service to

America

.

She married Lloyd Kearney on June 2, 1948 in Shelley.

In addition to raising a family of five children, she worked for French’s and Pillsbury until her retirement.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mom’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She had a great sense of humor, was a friend to all, and will be remembered for her delicious meals.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Kearney of Shelley; sons Patrick (Sherry)

Kearney

and Gail Kearney of Shelley; daughters Virginia Hansen of

Pleasant Grove

,

Utah

, Joyce (

Tracy

) Christensen and Kerrie (Sean) O’Brady of Shelley.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 7 brothers and sisters, beloved grandson, Troy Lee Christensen and her wonderful son-in-law, Richard L. Hansen.

Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the

Hillcrest

Cemetery
