J. Berkeley Larsen

J. Berkeley Larsen, Jr., 89, of Goshen and Marietta, Georgia died January 11, 2006 at his home in Goshen.

He was born January 6, 1917 in Shelley, Idaho to J. Berkeley, Sr. and Florence Tingey Larsen. He graduated from University of Idaho with a degree in Engineering. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps as an officer and aircraft pilot. He worked as an engineer in the air craft industry. After retirement he developed and operated his own excavating company.

On October 4, 1969 he married Ann Pittman. She preceded him in death in 1999. On November 2, 2000 he married E. Elaine Cook Hanny in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as Bishop and Patriarch.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Berke was a man of kindness, virtue, humor, great story-teller, and a true gentleman to all.

He is survived by his wife, E. Elaine Larsen of Goshen and Marietta, GA, two sons, J. Berkeley (Kate) Larsen III of Gainesville, GA and Brian Larsen of Roswell, GA, one brother, Reid (Marie) Larsen of Firth, ID, one sister, Naida Goodwin of Logan, UT, step children; Joyce (Carlan) Mullen of Idaho Falls, Merrill (Bethea) Hanny of Shelley, Frank Hanny of Alliance NE, Margaret (Delynn) Fielding of Castle Dale, UT, Annajill Hanny of Salt Lake City, UT, Ronald Pittman, Kelly Pittman, and Ann Krope all of GA, 21 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ann Pittman, a son, a brother, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M Monday January 16th at the Taylor Ward Chapel (1101 East 1250 North) with Bishop Merrill Hanny conducting. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Monday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the Church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23 of Blackfoot.
