J. E. "Ted" Kendrick

J.E. “Ted” Kendrick, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2007, at his home in Shelley.

He was born on Sept. 8, 1923 in Granger, Utah, the only son of Thomas Henry Kendrick and Nettie May Pitts Kendrick.  He graduated from Granger High School.  Ted served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946.  He was stationed both stateside and in the Pacific theater.

On Aug. 24, 1946, he married Mildred “Mickey” Anderson in Shelley.  In 1948, their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  Since 1948, Ted and Mickey have made Shelley their home.  They were blessed with five boys.

Ted’s professional life was spent in the construction industry.  He was a founding partner of Hunter-Saucerman Construction Co., and retired as the company’s president in 1989.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Among his many callings in the church, Ted served as the bishop of the Shelley 1st Ward, as a member of the Shelley Stake Presidency, and as a temple officiator.  After retirement, Ted and Mickey served two full-time missions in the New York Rochester Mission.

His life’s interests and hobbies included always running a herd of cattle, raising and flying racing pigeons, church ball, playing golf and fishing with friends and sons, coin and stamp collecting, traveling the world, and playing a weekly round of cards with good friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mickey, of Shelley; four sons: Randall (Ilene) of Shelley; Terry of Augusta, Georgia; Robert (Mauri) of Idaho Falls; and Jack (Tonja) of Gig Harbor, Washington.  Two of his sisters, Rose Stam of Salt Lake City and Carol Milligan of Gallup, New Mexico are still living.  He and Mickey have 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Scott; three sisters; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 19, at the Woodville LDS Chapel (1555 North 700 East) with Bishop Robert Butler, conducting. The family will hold a viewing and visitation Sunday March 18, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Monday 11:30 AM to 12:45 P.M. at the church. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Rites preformed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
