April 18, 1917 — January 20, 2009

Jennie Rosa Fonnesbeck Duce, 91, died January 20, 2009 at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls of complications associated with age.

She was born April 18, 1917 in Logan, Utah at the home of her grandfather to parents James Martinus Fonnesbeck and Rosa Zbinden.  Jennie attended school in Weston, Idaho where she completed her High School education before attending Utah State University.

It was at USU where she met her future husband, Franklin Ashcroft Duce.  After Jennie served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Central States Mission, Franklin and Jennie married in the Logan Utah Temple on April 11, 1941.   Jennie and Frank spent the early part of their lives in Lewistown, MT, Belle Fourche and Newel SD, and Gunnison, UT.  They found secure employment with the Atomic Energy site and settled in Shelley, ID where they spent the rest of their married life.

Jennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and an active member of the Shelley community supporting school functions and serving as a 4-H leader.  Jennie actively participated as a member of the Shelley LDS Third ward where she served as a Primary teacher, Relief Society Councilor, Sunday school teacher and faithful visiting teacher to many sisters.  She had a keen interest in all mankind which lead to her habit of looking out for the welfare of others.  She was a woman without guile.

Her hobbies included fabric arts (sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery), baking, candy making gardening and sketching.  Jennie was a friend to all she came in contact.

Jennie is survived by her five children; Bonnie (Calvin) Lamborn of Twin Falls, ID; Roselyn (Karl) Quigg of Ammon, ID; Frank Lynn (Shari) Duce of Brigham City, UT; Stephen Willard (Janice) Duce of Aiken, SC; Catherine (Scott) Wolff of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters; Oda (Ellis) Rasmussen of Orem, UT; and MarJean (Terry) Lunt of Gilbert, AZ; two brothers, Myron (Loneta) Fonnesbeck of Weston, ID and Paul (Yvonne) Fonnesbeck of Logan, UT; 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grand children.
