Joy Darlene Hulse

Joy Darlene Hulse, 82, died Oct. 8, 2013.

She was born the third of eight children and two adopted children on June 10, 1931 in Idaho Falls to William Labrum and Hilma (Johnson) Labrum.

As a child her family enjoyed trips to Lava Hot Springs every summer where they would spend several days swimming and playing in the river.

She married Frank Charles Hulse on June 2, 1950 in Shelley.

They spent two days together before Frank was deployed in the Korean War for two years.

Following Korea they settled for a short time is Arizona near Tombstone.

They returned to Idaho Falls area where they later had seven children and one who is loved as a son:

Kevin (Deb) of Rigby, Michael (Peggy) of Idaho Falls, Kelly (Holly) of Middleton, Julie(Tim) of Idaho Falls, John, Rebecca, Samuel (Michelle) of Shelley and Darold Riggs of Fort Bridger Wyoming.

Prior to and after the birth of her children Joy held several jobs.

Her employment included Roger Brothers Produce, Don Piper’s Gas, Boozer’s Gas and Idaho Fresh Pack.

She later worked for Pillsbury in Shelley beginning in 1989 and retired in 1996.

After 63 years of marriage Joy and Frank enjoy posterity of 26 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren with 4 on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and her son John.

Her sister Lorraine Packer of Glens Ferry is the sole surviving sibling.

Joy is a devoted wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

She is an example of kindness to her family and friends.

She always had a good word or kind greeting for all.

Mom, rest now in the arms of the angels.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Basalt Cemetery.
