Judy Ann Nelson

January 10, 1942 — January 11, 2021

Judy Ann Jensen Nelson
10 January 1942 - 11 January 2021

Born to Dell and Aloy Jensen in Shelley, Idaho, Judy grew up in Firth, Idaho, the second of five children. Declared Miss Congeniality as a young woman in a local beauty pageant, she would never stop living up to the title. Judy graduated from Ricks College and married Larren Nelson of Blackfoot, Idaho, 22 November 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Judy and Larren moved to Riverside, California where they raised their children and Judy worked as the deputy City Clerk for the City of Corona, California. She had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and actively served her entire life the church - in all auxiliaries at both ward and stake levels, as well as a seminary teacher. She was known as a master teacher and powerful speaker and was often asked to teach and share.

Her love for and Christlike acceptance of others made her beloved by many. She loved people and made everyone feel like one of her dear friends. She was well-known for service to others and for seeking to bring happiness and joy to everyone she was around. Remarkably talented and generous with her gifts, she always put forth 110% and knew how to get things done.

Judy loved her family! She was devoted to her children and grandchildren - giving them her whole heart. She enjoyed playing epic games of Uno, laughing and joking, visiting all night, and playing pinochle at family reunions in Island Park.

Shortly after retiring, Judy and Larren returned to Idaho. There they found great pleasure in working to restore the historic town of Chesterfield, Idaho. She also participated in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and volunteered at the Idaho Falls Humanitarian Center.

She is survived by her husband Larren Nelson of Idaho Falls; children L. Ron (Belinda) Nelson of Yuba City, California; Brad (Anne) Nelson of Layton, Utah; Troy Nelson of Gilbert, Arizona; and Lari (Loren) Dean of Riverside, California, as well as 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Nelda (Ron) Gardner of Firth, Idaho; Sheryl (Frank) Outcelt of Shelley, Idaho; Pat (Dave) Johnson of Firth, Idaho; and brother Delwyn (Jill) Jensen of Kaysville, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
