Julie Ann Mecham

November 18, 1958 — May 3, 2008

Julie Ann Mecham, 49, passed away on the morning of May 3, 2008 at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation.  

She was born November 18, 1958 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Norman and Virginia Mecham of Firth, Idaho. Julie grew up in the Goshen area where she began her life-long membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She attended school in the Firth School District. She attended Firth High School where she was a State Debate Champion and graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1977.  

She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a degree in political science. She then attended the J. Rueben Clark Law School where she became a member of Law Review by graduating in the top 10 of the class of 1983.  

She was licensed to practice law in Colorado, Idaho and Utah. She worked as an attorney in Breckenridge, Colorado where she also served extensively in the courts as a children's advocate to help children have a voice in the legal system.  

Upon returning to Idaho she worked with COAD helping to represent children and the disabled in the court system. She has continued to help children even as a lingering illness caused her health to decline.  

She was blessed with many talents and shared them with everyone making her a favorite aunt of all her nephews and nieces. She will be sorely missed.  

She is survived by her parents, Norman and Virginia Mecham, four brothers, Dale (Marva) of Firth, ID; Daniel (Claudia) of Sugar City, ID; David (Deslynn) of Firth, ID; and Douglas (Kathy) of Huntington, UT; and by a sister Tara Lee currently living in Norman, Oklahoma.  

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 8, 2008 at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 North 1090 East). The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Thursday morning 10:00 till 10:40 at the Church.  Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
