Karl Lynn Davis

February 17, 1946 — April 23, 2008

Karl Lynn Davis, 62, of Shelley, passed away April 23, 2008 at his home of cancer.  He was surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was born February 17, 1946 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to John Clarence and Gladys Morris Davis.  He attended schools in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School.  He served in the U.S. Air Force as special police.  He was honorably discharged in 1968.

On July 26, 1969 he married Aleta Louise Johnson in Smoot, Wyoming.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 14, 1970.  He worked for Basic American Foods for 39 years as a Maintenance Mechanic.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several callings, including High Priest 1st Councilor, Executive Secretary to the Bishop, Elders Quorum President and 1st Councilor, and Scout Master for several years.

Karl was a man of honor and an example to all he came in contact with.  He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend.  He will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Aleta Davis of Woodville; children, Stacy (Wade) Carpenter of St. George, UT; Christy (James) Chapple of Idaho Falls; and Derek Davis of Shelley; his grandchildren, Jackson Carpenter, Shelby Carpenter, Keisha Chapple, Dakota Chapple, Zachary Karl Chapple and Amadaia Chapple.  He is also survived by his sister, Jean Cox and brother, Warren Davis both of Woodville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Cox and Nedra Taggart.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 26, 2008 at the Woodville 2nd Ward Chapel (1555 North 700 East) with Bishop Clint Wheeler presiding and 1st Councilor Larry Murray officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday 11:30 till 12:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Woodville Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion Post 93 of Shelley.
