Lamaun Esplin

June 21, 1938 — November 12, 2006

LaMaun Esplin, 68, passed away November 12, 2006, at home in Battle Mountain, NV, after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 21, 1938, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Marion C. and Voilet Mitchell Esplin. He attended grade school in Basalt, Idaho, and graduated from Firth High School in Firth, ID.  LaMaun married Coral Jean Tew March 2, 1962 in the Idaho Falls Latter-Day-Saint Temple. He was an active member in the LDS church, enjoyed his assignment as scoutmaster, and spent his life serving others.

For twenty years LaMaun was a potato farmer in Southeastern Idaho, then he farmed at Sand Springs Valley near Rachel, NV, and Mack Creek near Dunphy, NV.  He was also employed as a heavy equipment mechanic by the Union Carbide Tungsten Mine, Battle Mountain Gold  and Lone Tree Gold Mines.

Boating, water skiing, and sailing were lifelong activities. He enjoyed fishing and camping in the mountains, but fabricating, welding, and machinery repair were his lifelong passions.

Survivors include his wife, Coral, of Battle Mountain, their children; Wayde Esplin (Jodi), Val Esplin (Ruthe), and Todd Esplin (Dini) Elko, NV, Karyn Halverson (Scott) Germany, Wyatt Esplin (Jodee) Payson, UT, Vance Esplin (Katie) Orem, UT, and Amber Hunt (Dan) Levan, UT, twenty-four grandchildren, a brother, Leon Esplin, Basalt, ID, and a sister, Marilyn Jolley, Firth, ID.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Esplin.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 18th at the Battle Mountain LDS church in Nevada. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Graveside services and burial will held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 20th, at the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. Donations to LaMaun's memory may be made to the Primary Children’s Medical Center, 100 North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84113.
